This "veteran frontline" who has served continuously for 36 years, with full of achievements and glory, has successfully completed its mission and written a brilliant chapter in the development of Tongfeng Company.

The "Old Front Line" of Tongfeng was completed and put into operation in 1989. In the 1980s, the domestic use of polypropylene film for capacitors was almost entirely dependent on imports, which severely restricted the development of related industries such as capacitors in China. The predecessor of Tongfeng Company, Tongling Radio Component Factory 2, actively responded to national demand and decided to introduce a polypropylene film production line for biaxially oriented capacitors from abroad. The project was launched in 1985, and after a series of preparatory work, it was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission in 1986 and included in the national "Seventh Five Year Plan" key technological transformation project for the mechanical and electronic industry. In 1988, the main line and related auxiliary equipment were successfully introduced. After more than a year of intensive construction, the production line was officially put into operation in 1989. The completion and operation of the "old front line" is a significant turning point in the development history of Tongfeng. This line has accelerated the product structure adjustment and transformation pace of Tongfeng Company, and thus formed the only "electrical three film" (capacitor film, metallization film, and thin film capacitor) one-stop production pattern in the country, which has brought the economic scale and technological level of the enterprise to a new level.

Throughout its 36 year service life, the 'old front line' has maintained stable operation for a long time. From the initial production of polypropylene optical film to the successful conversion to polypropylene roughening film after the completion of BOPP-2 production line. In 2015, the line was relocated from the old factory area on Shicheng Avenue in Tongling City to Tongfeng Industrial Park in the Economic Development Zone, and took advantage of the relocation opportunity to renovate and upgrade it, steadily improving product quality. In 2022, in order to meet the rapidly growing demand for new energy film market, the company once again transformed and upgraded the "old front line", successfully switched to polypropylene film production, and expanded the product specifications to 4.8 microns, effectively sharing the production capacity pressure of other production lines. The "old front line" regained its vitality and maintained a certain competitiveness in the constantly changing market environment.

Nowadays, with the rapid development of technology and the continuous upgrading of market demand, thin films for new energy are constantly developing towards ultra-thin and high-temperature resistant directions. Due to the long construction time, the performance of the production line products in the "old front line" can no longer meet the mainstream market requirements. In 2024, the company made a decisive decision to dismantle the outdated equipment on the "old front line" and carry out technological transformation, fully utilizing the existing factory and related facilities and equipment to build a new production line. After the new line is put into operation, it is expected to increase production capacity by 2000 tons, significantly improve production efficiency, and achieve a qualitative leap in product performance, which can better meet the market's demand for high-quality electrical films.

The glorious achievements of the "old front line" cannot be separated from those pioneers who silently dedicate themselves. In the early stages of project construction, they carried forward the spirit of hard work and innovation, overcame financial constraints and difficulties, and overcame a series of engineering and technical difficulties in infrastructure construction, installation and commissioning. In the 36 years of operation on the production line, a group of management, technical, and production personnel have carefully maintained equipment, optimized production processes, strictly controlled production processes, and ensured the stable operation of the production line. They used their youth and sweat to jointly forge the glory of the 'old front line'.

The retirement of the 'old front line' is not only the end of an era, but also the beginning of a new journey. The construction of the "new front line" is also an inheritance and development of the spirit of the "old front line". Looking towards the future, the company will continuously increase investment in technological innovation, accelerate project construction, improve product quality and performance, enhance its competitiveness in domestic and international markets, and make new and greater contributions to the development of China's national electronics industry.
